**🎤 [Andrew Ovens](https://www.linkedin.com/in/ovens/?originalSubdomain=ca), Principal Developer @ CreditApp**
The concept of CreditApp – the product, the software architecture, and the development practices – emerged from years of industry experience, a willingness to experiment, and a healthy serving of idealism. We’ll look at the initial decisions of building a green-field application on an event-sourcing architecture and the consequent impact on trunk-based development, fast rollouts to production, and a commitment to automated testing. After nearly 3 years, every developer on our team wouldn’t want it any other way.
The CreditApp technical leadership team will drive into the humorous stories and lessons learned from our journey of adopting an event-sourcing architecture with KurrentDB and how we’ve been able to pivot on core application concepts in a matter of days instead of months. We’ll peek at the future of scaling up with event-sourcing.
**🎤 [Tony Young](https://www.linkedin.com/in/realtonyyoung/?originalSubdomain=ca), Solutions Architect @ Kurrent.io**
Today's businesses seek to understand the entire customer workflow. This understanding requires knowledge of not just WHAT happened, but the full context of WHY, HOW, and WHEN it happened in real time. KurrentDB combines the power of an append-only, immutable log of events, with fine-grained indexing streams, and a streaming engine. Learn how KurrentDB can help your organization unlock the full rich context of your events, enabling downstream analytics, AI, reporting, and application development.
Tony Young, Principal Solutions Architect from Kurrent.io will dive into the architecture of how Kurrent works as an immutable event storage layer that fits as a central operational database as well as the evolution with the database to become a source of truth EventHub in streaming data platforms.
**About CreditApp/Quantifi:** CreditApp is a FinTech subsidiary of Quantifi, and provides a single, configurable platform that allows businesses to offer financing, automate workflows, and collect documents electronically. Automated decision-making logic that helps lenders and dealers save time and money by improving approval rates and reducing fraud.
**About Kurrent:** Kurrent.io is an open-core software company that created the event-native database KurrentDB (FKA EventStoreDB). KurrentDB is an event-native streaming database, storing data in an append-only immutable log. Kurren enables fine-grained streams with global ordering, eliminating the dual/multi-write problem by combining storage and streaming for high-fidelity data products. In the world of Kafka, and event-driven architectures, companies are using KurrentDB in conjunction as an EventHub to deliver high fidelity data to operational stores, data marts like MongoDB or Elastic, business applications (SAP, SFDC, Marketo, etc.), advanced analytics, and ML/AI pipelines.
**About the YYC Data Meetup:** The YYC Data Meetup (formerly Calgary AI), powered by the YYC Data Society, aims to create a collaborative space for data enthusiasts and professionals to connect, share knowledge, insights and best practices in the data space. As per the YYC Data Society’s mission, the YYC Data Meetup will foster community engagement through presentations, workshops, and other types of events to enhance skills and build a supportive community.
